What is your current Job Title or Role?
What advice would you have for young women who are interested in a STEM career or job?
Work hard and don't change yourself. It is possible to succeed as a woman!
How did you get to where you are today?
I was encouraged by my teacher at school who recognised I was good at maths and physics. This inspired me to study physics at University. At University, I was taught python programming, this led me to a career in IT.
What do you do on a daily basis in your work?
My job involves applications development and support. On a day to day basis, I am supporting users and solving any issues they are having. When I am not doing that, I am developing new things that have been requested by the business. As I am an analyst and a programmer, I often have to identify the problem, figure out what needs to be done to fix it and then implement the change - it is not just writing code!
Who or what inspired you to get into STEM?
My science teacher at school (thanks Mr Vevers!) My parents also never discouraged me from any interests I had.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Every day is different! I enjoy supporting systems as well as development because it gives me an insight into how users use the system. Solving issues for users is also very rewarding when something you have done makes someone else's job that bit easier.
What do you like to do outside work?
If I have a spare minute, I've probably got my nose in a book.
