What advice would you have for young women who are interested in a STEM career or job?
Take every opportunity presented to you. This mentality will open doors you didn't even know existed!
How did you get to where you are today?
I have always loved the logic of science and being able to explain phenomena in the world around me. What I love more is getting others excited about science so education was an obvious choice for me.
What do you do on a daily basis in your work?
The main part of my role is to teach Chemistry to students aged 11-18. I also run the Chemistry department which involves a bit of admin and data analysis, the training and development of staff and finding ways to create an environment that fosters a love of learning.
Who or what inspired you to get into STEM?
Two absolutely fantastic science teachers and then some of my lecturers and professors at University.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The relationships I get to build and seeing young people getting excited about science, particularly when it leads to them deciding on chemistry or chemistry related career paths.
What do you like to do outside work?
Sailing, knitting, music
