What is your current Job Title or Role?
Associate Professor in Information Systems
What advice would you have for young women who are interested in a STEM career or job?
Dream big. Be you. Believe in your future self. There are no jobs especially designed for men or women. We can all do the same job as long as we enjoy it, and we are passionate about it.
How did you get to where you are today?
By working hard and staying focused in my aspirations and future goals. Having a 5 year plan that constantly gets updated kept me going and always motivated me to reimagine the future.
What do you do on a daily basis in your work?
I teach and I do research. In addition I work hard on women’s and humans’ rights and they are embedded across all my activities and beliefs. I collaborate with people from various fields, not only STEM.
Who or what inspired you to get into STEM?
I found it fascinated when I first sat in front of a computer and tried programming. I got into it by myself. I gradually realised that IT is an interdisciplinary field, that whatever you develop and/or create is making good to society.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Sharing and passing knowledge. Through teaching at the university not only I enjoy seeing my students develop and grow, it also helps me to stay on top of my field, collaborate, meet new people globally and moreover, develop teaching approaches for the digital age. I shape my daily job according to my beliefs, what inspires me and where I see myself in the future. This enables me to not only to remain creative, but to enhance, develop and grow creativity in the field.
What do you like to do outside work?
I bake and I cook, I find it extremely relaxing and creative too.
