What is your current Job Title or Role?
Project Manager
What advice would you have for young women who are interested in a STEM career or job?
Always challenge the status quo!
How did you get to where you are today?
Working hard, learning lessons and being brave. I did a degree in Psychology in my hometown in Spain. Married with the love of my life, had 2 wonderful kids and a fulfilling job. All the boxes to happiness were ticked. And then financial crisis happened. The world around us broke into pieces. Me and my husband lost our jobs and had to make a decision. We took our kids and moved to the UK. After working in the catering industry, I got a job as admin assistant in a big engineering company. I was absolutely fascinated by the whole construction industry. After a few months I managed to get a job as Project Manager. I've loved it since! I'm now APMP and CIOB and when I tell my friends in Spain I build stuff.... they just cannot believe me! 🙂 I've also set up my own home based business.... making jam! But that's a different story...
What do you do on a daily basis in your work?
Fail, learn, fail, learn, fail, learn and eventually success!
Who or what inspired you to get into STEM?
One of my managers in my previous company, Ann. She trusted in me which helped to take the plunge.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
That I can interact with so many different people and really play my part in the world we are building for the future generations.
What do you like to do outside work?
I skate and cook. And look after my 3 kids. And sleep.... eventually.
