What is your current Job Title or Role?
Chief Executive Officer
What advice would you have for young women who are interested in a STEM career or job?
If you are interested in something, pursue it!! And when things don't go to plan or go spectacularly wrong, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, that's when you learn and things get really interesting.
How did you get to where you are today?
Working hard and taking some chances. I've done a lot of different roles, worked in lots of different areas and always looked to take on more responsibility with each role.
What do you do on a daily basis in your work?
I manage a human tissue bank, specialising in the processing and cryogenic storage of stem cells for medical applications. As CEO I spend my time managing the team, leading technical projects to improve our processes with a leading University in the UK, and moving the business forward.
Who or what inspired you to get into STEM?
I was good at Science and Maths, and less so at the Arts subjects. I really enjoyed the practical applications in Science and getting my hands dirty!!
What do you enjoy most about your role?
It's hugely varied and very challenging. I particularly like the Regulatory and technical challenges and the feeling of success as a team when we solve one.
What do you like to do outside work?
I love the outdoors, and spend my leisure time at the beach (in the water or on it), exploring the South West in our VW with my family and attempting to keep fit!!
